Australian Election 2007

The liberals this year are looking like copping a landslide election loss not seen since WWII. The thing is, how can they be surprised?
Last election, they spent $3Million dollars in 51 minutes on liberal electorates. Some of this money was spent on things that there had not even been an application for. If this isn't "buying votes" I dont know what is.

There is nothing I can say about the liberals and their disgusting, slimey behaivour that has become so obvious in the past few years that hasn't already been said and by people with a better knowledge of them, such as Paul Keating.

To top off their disgraceful effort in this years campaign, they get busted distributing fake flyers that have a sole purpose of trying to discredit the Labor party and make them look racist. If these guys were campaigning for anything other than the government of a country, it might almost be humerous.

My local representative, the awful, fake, propagandist Bronwyn Bishop has started distributing her own flyers that have spent their fare share of time in the limelight also.

Meanwhile, where are the ALP? There is no mention of them in the news, no slanderous material, no cat fights, no propaganda. Just facts. I think its also worth mentioning that on every page of the news articles, during the election, were advertisements for the libs, stating that the countries economy will fall over with labor power.

If it was up to me, we'd have Bob Brown in power. The guy is a hero, a legend, he's one of the only politicians that I would happily listen to for more than a few hard-earned seconds. Go the greens!

Dont take my words for this. Make up your own mind.

Why don’t people carpool?

I dont understand it.

Every morning, I sit on my bus for over an hour and fifteen minutes while I look out the window and see multitudes of cars, 90% of which have only 1 person in them.

For at least half of my journey I am in bumper to bumper traffic which hardly moves at all for about 5 kilometres.

Do people just not want to do it? Is carpooling uncool? It would seem so as a bus full of people can take about 90 people and with 90% of people having only themselves in their cars, thats about 80 cars off the road for every bus! And thats before I even get into the savings to our environment. But, even if every second person took 1 other person in their cars, thats a 1/3rd improvement.

I just dont geddit. People are so stupid.

Java SDK on Fedora 8

I have been trying to install Java 1.7 on my Fedora 8 laptop for ages, but I kept getting errors.

Checking available disk space...
Checking Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment...
Extracting Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment files...
Extracting installation files...
Launching Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment...
java: xcb_xlib.c:50: xcb_xlib_unlock: Assertion `c->xlib.lock' failed.

So, after a lot of searching and a lot of trials, I found the fix;

SImply appending '-console' to the script, fixed my prob

/java_ee_sdk-5_03-linux.bin -console

EDIT: The '-console' fix also works with the Java tools bundle (Netbeans) when running the shell script installer.
